Stargate Worlds: I Don’t Want To Go On The Cart…

I don't want to go on the cart

Stargate Worlds is akin to the Duke Nukem Forever of the MMO world. Under approximately eight lawsuits currently, ranging from not paying employees to angry investors, to allegations of a ponzi scheme, the development of the oft-delayed Stargate Worlds can regularly be seen trudging along in a direct path towards nowhere.

Looking through my own archives, all of the news on MMO Fallout related to Stargate Worlds follows a similar point: A frantic, arm waving “We’re not dead yet!” directly removed from one of the early scenes in Monty Python’s Holy Grail movie. Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment had this to say recently:

“We know you expect nothing less than the AAA content inStargate Worlds our development team is working hard to give you along with some additional exciting news we will be revealing very soon! We want to thank everyone for their continued support and passion for Stargate Worlds and we can’t wait to show you more of what we’ve been cooking up over here.”

CME released a number of screenshots to the gallery, showing in detail several class-based armor sets that, according to Stargate savvy players, resemble very little from the lore they have come to know and love.

As for the status of Stargate Worlds: I don’t think I need to keep parroting the notion that Stargate Worlds will be used as an example as to how not to develop an MMO. Should the game ever be released, it has a lot of development cost to cover, and for a title that had to cancel its closed beta because it couldn’t afford the test server hosting, you’re asking a mom and pop shop to cover the United State’s debt.
