Meta News: MMO Fallout Has Jumped The Shark!

WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE WEBSITE IT WAS PERFECT!

It’s time for a cosmetic change here at MMO Fallout. MMO Fallout hasn’t changed its looks in like eight years and that’s been causing some problems that I’m sure many of you have noticed. Foremost the theme is roughly six years out of date and hasn’t been officially compatible with WordPress in a long, long time. This has led to issues, probably contributed to the website randomly crashing when you do intensive stuff like clicking on a link. The featured post function which is part of the reason I chose the theme hasn’t worked properly in roughly three years and fully broke two years ago leading to the homepage looking like trash.

Oh and I haven’t heard from the guy who built the prior website design in roughly seven years. If you look at the contact page and wonder why he’s no longer credited, that would be why.

And since MMO Fallout’s gotten more outside discussion over the past year or so, that’s pretty much the feedback I’ve been seeing and getting; that the content is good, but the website looks horrible and built by the Unity asset flippers I criticize. If I have anything to my name, it is trustworthiness. I also own pretty much every Amiibo, but that’s a story for another day.

So I’m making the website look fancier. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for years and have made no progress on, however I end up looking at hundreds of WordPress themes and hating all of them. They either end up looking too basic, are an insane amount of work to customize to get them usable, or are absolute information overload. I’m not a clickbait website. This one I like, and it took a swift kick in the ass to get me to finish customizing it to a point that I think will work long term. It is snazzier than the old theme and in my opinion doesn’t fall into the realm of information overload that I think ruins a lot of the other themes I looked at.

Patch Notes:

  1. You may see repeating header images in recent posts. I updated them with featured images so the front page wouldn’t look janky, this will fix itself as more posts get added.
  2. Post reactions removed. I will admit they were horrible and made this website look like a pathetic joke. I am sorry.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Did I jump the shark?
