Konami has confirmed today that Kazuhisa Hashimoto, possibly best known for introducing the world to the Konami Code, has passed away. Hashimoto was 61 years old.
Hashimoto has had a long career with Konami going all the way back to the early 1980’s, and implemented the Konami Code in its first iteration on Gradius in 1986. The code has become infamous and wound up being used in over 100 Konami titles as well as dozens of other games as a tribute to the original. Hashimoto left Konami in the early 2000’s.
We are saddened to hear about the passing of Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a deeply talented producer who first introduced the world to the “Konami Code”.
