Counter Strike and Team Fortress 2 Source Code Leaked

Valve are (hopefully) looking into it.

Update: Valve has responded to the code leaks by stating that the builds that were leaked are a couple of years old and there is no reason for players to be worried about current builds of either title.

How’s everyone doing with the quarantine? Enjoying a rousing game of Counter Strike: Global Offensive? You might want to take a break from that for the time being.

In case you haven’t heard the five alarm fire currently spreading around social media and probably every gaming Discord server you are in, the source code for Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 got leaked onto the internet. The how and why and who are still being investigated with tons of rumors and misinformation floating around the net. We won’t get into that right now.

What is important is that there are reports cropping up of security holes appearing thanks to these leaks. The potential for remote code execution already has some server networks shutting down for the time being out of an abundance of caution.

The precise implications of this leak are yet to be fully realized. MMO Fallout recommends not putting faith in the peanut gallery throwing conspiracies and claims around the net for the time being.
