GameStop Selling $35 Liquidation Mystery Box

Except they aren’t anymore.

I have been buying a fair amount of retro games from Gamestop while quarantined in my house since believe it or not you can actually get some decent prices on older titles on PS1 and GBA through their store. While perusing the latest digs, I came across the following daily deal:

Oh my god! Only $29.99 for a mega-egga mystery egg? No wait, that’s not what I’m interested in. It’s the $14.99 Left 4 Dead 2 on the Xbox 360 of course.

Actually I’m looking at the “YOU WANT THIS BOX” online only bundle that is only available online except it isn’t actually available right now. A sale from $91.83 to only $35 bucks? How can this not be a great deal? Why does it only have a one star rating?

So the GameStop mystery box is exactly what you might expect; it’s a liquidation bundle containing a bunch of crappy collectibles plus one or two decent items that GameStop couldn’t convince anyone to buy at clearance rates so they are bundling it and theoretically giving you a deal because you are paying less than the retail price for a bunch of crap you won’t want.

GameStop is selling the item as;

“You May be thinking, ‘why do I want this box?” Well, only because it’s guaranteed to have the coolest assortment of stuff, the likes of which have rarely been seen. That is until the next week, when we do it all over again.”

Guaranteed cool stuff, just check out this itenerary;

If you really want to drop $35 on this box, well you can’t. The description does indicate that this may be a weekly restock situation. You’ll just need to wait for the folks over at GameStop’s warehouse to fill up more boxes with unwanted cheap merch before you can waste your money. At least the shipping is free.
