Bright Star Studios this week announced a $700k pre-seed investment by Play Ventures with participation from Galaxy Interactive. Bright Star is focused on next generation MMORPGs and has lined up a star-studded crew including former Unity CEO Allan Kirkeby as senior producer as well as SK Gaming co-founder Andreas Thorstensson as advisor.
“We’ve really thought about the player experience at every step. MMORPGs have traditionally been slow to get into, but our zero-friction play means you jump straight into action without lengthy downloads and installs. Our business model is also free of loot boxes and pay-to-win practices, which creates a fair and competitive environment for our players,” said Bright Star CEO Mark Laursen.
Their first title Ember Sword is currently open for pre-registration with a global release planned for 2022.
