1,704 items for $5 could have been yours. If the price was right.
The Itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality has officially ended as of 2:59 a.m. this morning on June 16 the year of Arnold.
Initially starting out with around 700 titles the library of games being sold for a mere $5 minimum purchase ballooned to over 1,700 items by the time the sale had come to an end. With all proceeds (important word there) going to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund as well as the Community Bail Project, the bundle’s aim is to provide support during this time of unrest following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25.
The results are in; more than eight hundred thousand people have contributed a combined total of $8,175,520.81 to the cause, averaging out at around $10 per person. The top contribution was five thousand dollars.
Those who missed out on the sale aren’t completely out of luck as there are still dozens of racial equality sales still running on the Itch.io platform not to mention pride sales. Alternately there are plenty of charities out there if one would prefer to just donate.
