Square Enix falls into the rare category of companies that not only talk about their anti-gold farming endeavors but to actually put numbers to their actions. Every week you can find Square publishing their updated reports on the FFXIV Lodestone and the numbers are quite interesting.
So I did what I always do, I compiled the numbers. For the first half of 2020 Square Enix terminated over 100,000 accounts for real money trading with a bulk of them coming from accounts participating in RMT/prohibited activities. The number of people banned for botting is incredibly low but my theory is that the botting activity bans are mostly accounts botting for personal use while the gold farmer bots are falling under participating in RMT.
