Steam: A Look At The Among Us Clones

Check out the bad Among Us clones.

Here at MMO Fallout my hobby is stalking Among Us clones. Why? Because I can. Among Us has been a huge game in 2020 and it was only a matter of time before the shameless clones started releasing. October through December turned out to be a veritable smorgasbord of Among Us imposters, and they’ve mostly done as well as you’d expect.

Let’s check in on them, shall we?

1. Imposter Inside Us

Imposter Inside Us was released by Genene Game. Genene Game did not exist before hastily cobbling together this Among Us clone and I’m willing to bet we won’t be seeing anything of quality coming from this studio in the future either. If there was an award for the biggest failure of the bunch, Imposter Inside Us would win that award easily.

Imposter Inside Us launched on November 19 to an audience of four which may just be the developers stuffing the tip jar to make the game look active. Since then the audience has completely died out with nobody playing.

They hold a 66% mixed rating on Steam among 27 reviews.

2. Killer Inside Us

You’ll notice that the choice for ripping off “Among Us” is “Inside Us,” which incidentally may cause trademark problems with the ripoffs. I’m just kidding, none of these people are registering any trademarks. That would imply intent to support these games.

Killer Inside Us used to be known as VURMA. It took two developers to rip off Among Us and create this title; Lance Games and Source Byte. The team was so lazy that they never changed the title of the DLC to reflect the main game change. None of Source Byte’s previous titles have more than a dozen reviews which may explain the shameless bandwagoning.

Killer Inside Us launched on October 30 to twelve players. There is nobody playing it as of this publishing.

3. Pretend

Out of the games on this list, Pretend is probably the most shameless ripoff of Among Us even if the shameless developers at Whitesquare would like to pretend that their creation involved even a modicum of creativity, originality, or talent. As we showed in our coverage even the layout of the mini-games and map has been virtually plagiarized from Among Us.

Shameless? Yes. Successful? More than anything else on this list. Pretend launched to 148 simultaneous players. At 79 cents those players aren’t quite enough to cover Steam’s $100 cover charge and it’s obvious that Whitesquare won’t be earning much other than a reputation as hack tracers.

4. Killer: Infected One Of Us

This one used to go by the name Killer Among Us 3D. DreamTeamGames is still working on their Among Us ripoff. Not working hard, mind you, but working. The game is now listed with a “coming soon” release date, and appears to be an asset flip using Unreal marketplace items.

Will it be good? We doubt it. Will it be popular? We doubt it.
