Finally.
It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally here. Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox. At FFXIV Fan Fest this week, director Yoshi P welcomed Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer on stage to reveal that Xbox players will finally be able to play Final Fantasy XIV.
Open beta for the Xbox version is set to launch in Spring 2024. Talks of an Xbox port of Final Fantasy XIV are so old they actually go all the way back to the Xbox 360. For a long time now Square Enix has refused to bring the game over to Microsoft’s console citing the company’s lack of support for cross-play. For years Microsoft has refused the idea of an MMO with cross-platform servers.
Well that’s all in the past now.
