Fntastic to shut down.
Fntastic has pulled the rug on its scam operation and fake game The Day Before, ripping off Steam users and running away with what little they can. The Day Before launched on December 7, confirming pretty much all suspicions that the game was in fact a scam operation by a shady studio who had spent the better part of the last two years fabricating a zombie survival MMO only to release a barebones extraction shooter.
Fntastic Studio has shuttered as of today citing lack of funds, and users are encouraged to reach out to Steam support to get refunds before any of the money can be embezzled into third party bank accounts never to be seen again. The servers will remain operational for the foreseeable future, according to the announcement, where players can see the end result of several years of a fake game’s development.
It is already not possible to buy the game on Steam anymore likely thanks to intervention from Valve as the game has not been voluntarily retired nor has the game been taken off sale by any of the usual means.
According to an unverified leaked memo, nearly half of the game’s sales had already been refunded. With luck, Valve will forcibly refund every copy sold and Fntastic won’t see a single dime of this scam.
If you did buy The Day Before, even if you have more than two hours of gameplay, MMO Fallout implores you to use Steam Support to request a refund. Because while Steam should morally automatically refund users, there’s not guarantee they will.
Trust me, they’re not going to screw you on this.
As for the leadership at Fntastic, we’ll see you in hell.
