Hotcakes: Fntastic Just Can’t Stop Lying Badly

What happens when you’re dumb and a scam artist.

I had kinda hoped we were done talking about Fntastic and the scam that was The Day Before, but like any shyster lacking dignity, intelligence, and grace, the couple remaining folks at the studio just can’t shut their mouths and go away forever. Earlier this morning Fntastic posted a long pile of drivel and nonsense on Twitter, and it’s exactly the kind of transparent lies we’ve come to expect from the company.

You’ll notice nobody was wiling to put their name to this piece. The list of grievances claims that “we worked hard and honestly on the game for five years,” a blatant lie as is the claim that Fntastic worked with the publisher to force refunds to Steam users (that would be Valve working with the publisher).

The post then goes on to whine about how “certain bloggers” made money creating false content, which is again a lie. First of all the bloggers probably didn’t make much money, second the content about The Day Before being suspicious and full of lies was because the game was full of lies and suspicious. It’s been documented all over the internet over the last year.

Fntastic goes on to gaslight us by claiming they “implemented everything shown in the trailers” before immediately admitting they didn’t actually implement everything shown in the trailers. Fntastic hopes people are stupid enough to not notice the endless lists compiled of differences between the trailers and release. They also hope you won’t notice they’ve scrubbed their official channels of well over a dozen of those trailers.

You can’t burn evidence on the internet.

Funny enough the letter points toward copies of The Day Before going on sale on grey markets for $200, another slight of hand and showcasing that the people heading this company couldn’t be trusted to tell you the time of day honestly. Delisted games go for big money because they’re really rare keys, not because people really support the game. But I suspect Fntastic knows that, they just can’t stop lying.

Also to call back to Titov’s Law, any game that exists will have weirdos who congregate around it no matter how bad it was. People love Sergey Titov’s games, doesn’t make the guy any less of an incompetent con artist.

The Day Before is dead, Fntastic’s reputation is dead, and honestly nobody wants to think about them anymore. To quote Absolutely Fabulous, “Oh for God’s sake just die!”
