Diaries From Fortnite: Whoa, We’re Halfway There

I hit level 100.

Yeah that’s right, I play Fortnite. Ever heard of it? I hit level 100 in Fortnite today, well ahead of the level 94 that I should be at by the end of Sunday to keep up with my track to 200 before the season ends.

I don’t normally align with the endless whining on Twitter over how everything sucks, but I will admit that this season of Fortnite is much worse than many that came before it. Fortnite has had some bad metas in the past, but Season 3 is one of the worst in a while.

A few days ago Epic updated Fortnite with a pretty big change; It’s now no longer possible to fire a turret in a car driven by an enemy. What had taken over the game were players in solo getting into each other’s cars for safety and inexplicably teaming up in the process. I’ll admit that I did this quite a bit.

But that doesn’t change the fact that cars have kinda ruined Fortnite for this season, turning the game into a Twisted Metal that nobody really asked for. The car meta has overtaken the game and you basically need to be in a beefed out car with bulletproof tires and a turret in order to win. It makes the process of gathering weapons kinda pointless when you can just spam grenades.

Epic has nerfed cars a few times and introduced counters but it’s still not quite enough. People don’t like how car combat has overtaken the main game and frankly I’m up there with them. And I don’t even play build mode, where cars have just become a massive pain in the ass.

Cars should have a cap for ammunition and repair items shouldn’t be as plentiful as they are. Repair nodes should be removed or at least made less available, and stations shouldn’t repair at all or maybe after the first couple of storm rounds.

The season will still suck, but it will suck less.
