Several NetEase Executives/Staff Arrested In Money Laundering Scheme

Involving upwards of 30 companies.

Bloomberg is reporting that two fired senior NetEase executives and seven other employees have been arrested in an alleged money laundering scheme this month. The employees are identified as Xiang Lang and Jin Yuchen while the other employees have gone unnamed.

The alleged scheme is believed to have laundered 800-1 billion yuan involving 28 companies, and also include suspicion of employees buying traffic for NetEase games. It should be noted that the arrests are reportedly a part of an internal investigation by NetEase itself.

The 28 companies involved have been “blacklisted” in China.

Even worse, the employees allegedly didn’t clean out the lint traps when laundering the money.

Given how legal proceedings usually go, we will likely hear nothing until the verdicts are laid out and sentences delivered. MMO Fallout will keep an ear to the ground and report when we have any new news.
