Crimecraft Going Freemium

There's no neck to break
I think this sums it up...

When I said that Crimecraft would stay online as long as it remained profitable, I was not specifically referring to the subscription based format. I try not to inject too much speculation into my articles, but I could not see Crimecraft running very long on a forced subscription based platform, even if it costs less than most other MMOs. There are just too many other shooters on the market that cost the initial $50, and then cost absolutely nothing to play per month.

Barely a month after news broke of Vogster’s Chicago branch closing, as well as significant cuts to staffing elsewhere, the third person title is back in the spotlight with more bad news: The company is ditching both its boxed and subscription base. Vogster will allow players to sign up for an unlimited free trial, with subscription plans if players want to upgrade their accounts (Ranging from $4.99 to $9.99). Differences between the free plan and paid breaks follows the normal routine of paid subscribers gaining faster experience, receiving better customization, and more skill slots.

Crimecraft has a big content update going live when the free trial launches this month. Players who bought the boxed copy will receive recognition, as well as three months of premium membership, and early access to future content. A major content update is also going live, bringing in dynamic newspapers that report on player activity, billboards that feature top players, as well as a few new game modes, titles, and other customization options.

Speaking as someone who participated in the Crimecraft Beta (These neck-snapping pictures are from the beta), I can say without a doubt that Crimecraft is a great third person shooter. Is it worth the $40 for the initial game? Sure. Is it worth paying a monthly subscription fee? The market says no, apparently.

Will Vogster level out, or will they continue this downward spiral? I will be on the scene to report as news breaks.
