It’s hard to imagine that Project Gorgon launched into Early Access on March 13, 2018, but that’s exactly what happened.
I will admit that I had my doubts about Project Gorgon at the beginning, following several unsuccessful crowdfunding campaigns the game finally launched into Steam Early Access and it’s been going pretty well since then. Elder Game LLC is a teeny tiny developer and it’s great to see that the game has continued to thrive on a decently sized population of players.
The latest update to Project Gorgon launched on March 9 and introduces a new playable race, an overhaul to animal handling, and a crapload of other changes. Very impressive to see from such a small development team. The population of Project Gorgon according to Steam Charts had a surge in January of this year but generally seems to stay in the 150-200 peak player range over the last year. The community itself seems happy with Gorgon rating the title an 87% “very positive” score through Steam reviews.
If you want to check out Project Gorgon, there is a demo available on Steam that will get you through the tutorial island. I recommend checking it out if you want a game that feels a bit like a hybrid of Ultima Online and Everquest. It’s quite fun and I hate that I haven’t played it nearly as much as I have wanted to.
