Don’t cheat? Tough, you might be hit with the banhammer.
Bungie is getting pretty darn sick and tired of cheaters in Destiny 2 and even more so as the amount of cheating has gone up fairly dramatically this year. According to production director Justin Truman cheating is up roughly 50%. At higher competitive ranks the cheating is much more of a problem.
The answer? Dealing with it by implementing systems to prevent memory exploits, aimbots, wallhacks, and those who take advantage of lag to cheat the game. Another policy? Punishing players who aren’t cheating themselves but reaping the benefits of an obviously cheating teammate.
If you group up with or provide your account information to a guide service or player who cheats you through content, your account may be banned.
We’re changing a key policy – fireteammates of cheaters are no longer innocent. We now reserve the right to restrict or ban any player who has benefitted from cheating, even if they didn’t cheat themselves. This includes scenarios where players group up with or provide account information to a guide or carry service, which then cheats on their behalf. We want you to find new friends out there, but be sure they have your trust before you go. If you LFG your way into a fireteam with a cheater, get out and report them. If you ride them to a flawless, the Banhammer will come for you as well.
Other ideas in the works will prevent people from creating new accounts just to cycle through cheating on Trials of Osiris (which is where much of the cheating takes place). For more information, check out the official website.
