Laid back and selling things.
Despite my hardened exterior, I have a special place in my heart for ultra-casual shopkeeping games. There’s something about spending thousands of hours playing the hero/villain and rolling around grinding levels that makes me appreciate just sitting back, crafting some items, and letting my customers roll in.
And that’s what I get with Shop Titans. You may have seen Shop Titans around before as it is available on mobile platforms, but the game is coming to Steam and I had a chance to check out the PC version for myself. The title itself is releasing on May 5 and will be free to play just as the mobile version was.

The core gameplay loop revolves around maintaining your shop; crafting items to keep them in stock, sending adventurers out for rarer ingredients, and recruiting and leveling up. There’s sort of a whirlwind of leveling systems that you have to keep in check as you progress through the game as each system grants access to better adventures, better gear, and better heroes.
The user interface thankfully has been reconfigured for computer monitors and everything looks a fair shake better than it does on mobile phones. At the very least you won’t have to stare at a three inch screen for long periods of time.

As a game meant to be played over a long period of time, I can dig Shop Titans for what it offers. It’s a slow start, but we’ll get there eventually.
