There is literally nothing here.
Garlock Online might be the strangest game that I have ever investigated as part of an Early Access Checkup article. The game is free, it has a 25% “mostly negative” rating on Steam and has been in Early Access since 2016, and it doesn’t exist. As in literally it does not exist.
Garlock Online was apparently a shoddily built Diablo-style game with pre-made assets that were designed to rip off Diablo as closely as possible. It does not appear that the assets used are still for sale. According to posts on the forums, the screenshots used in the Steam store page are from the asset pack instead of the game itself, which looks like a hastily cobbled together mess. See below.
Also the developer apparently ran his text through machine translation to get it in English. Wonderful.
I downloaded Garlock Online because it was free to see if the game was still online or functioning and what threw me off first was that it downloaded immediately. Almost as if there was nothing to download. So I go to open the game and get an error that it is missing an executable. Verify the files and try again, same response.
And then I looked in the game folder…
Literally nothing.
Looking through Garlock Online’s history on SteamDB, it appears that the developer just wholesale wiped the game’s files back in December 2016. This game hasn’t had anyone playing it since late 2016 which makes sense since there is nothing in the file depot and thus nothing to play.
Any evidence that I can find of this game working is from 2016 which seemingly confirms my conclusion that the developer just up and wiped everything. The developer who has a VAC ban on his Steam account has not posted since a thread in February 2017 asking why the game was completely broken. His answer was simply;
“We are sorry the game is under construction”
The posts on the thread confirm that the update in December 2016 did delete all of the content from the game. Given it has been over three years since that post, we’re going to assume that Garlock Online isn’t coming back.
Garlock Online also has DLC. You can’t find it from the main page, but there were evidently three character DLCs planned one of which was put up for sale.
Maybe it’s time for Valve to swing that banhammer.
