A lot of cheaters got banned.
World of Warcraft used to have a lot of bots. I’m not sure if it still has a lot of bots but back in classic days World of Warcraft had a lot of bots. So it shouldn’t be all that surprising that World of Warcraft Classic also has a lot of bots, and Blizzard this week announced that they have banned a lot of bots in WoW Classic.
Blizzard’s community manager posted yesterday to confirm that over 74,000 accounts have been banned with most of those bans being for using automation tools. Bots.
Including today’s actions, over the last month in the Americas, Oceania, and Europe regions, we’ve closed or suspended over 74,000 WoW accounts that were found to be in violation of our End-User License Agreement 68. The majority of these were found to be using gameplay automation tools, typically to farm resources or kill enemies much more efficiently than legitimate players can.
The fight against real money trading is of course a constantly escalating one as bot makers work harder to circumvent anti-cheating tech deployed by game developers.
