Pagan Online Becomes Pagan Offline In August

Wargaming.net to provide no refunds.

Whenever you hear about MMOs shutting down the first thing people want to know is whether the developer will have the decency to offer an offline client for the game. 99% of the time the answer to that is no, because consumer friendliness isn’t how this industry works. The other 1% of the time you get Pagan Offline.

Pagan Online is going offline on August 4, and Mad Head Games and Wargaming are working to provide an offline client for the game. Not working in the sense of Turbine lying about private servers for Asheron’s Call, but working in the sense of working. On the same day players will receive an email from Wargaming with a Steam key to the new version.

“Since the launch of Pagan Online, Wargaming and Mad Head Games have been working to ensure the best possible gaming experience. Unfortunately, over the last year, it has become clear that supporting Pagan Online as a multiplayer game is no longer sustainable.

To ensure the continuity of our game, we will be converting Pagan Online from multiplayer to single player. This will happen on August 4, when the multiplayer servers will be switched off.”

Players on the Wargaming client will need to transition to Steam to continue playing. It will be possible to transfer your progress to Pagan Offline as progress is stored locally and server-side. Those who haven’t bought in to Pagan Online will be able to pick up the offline version when it launches in August as it has already been retired from Steam.
