And Google translate isn’t much help.
I know what you’re about to say; Connor, if you tell me a Chinese product was banned from the Steam store for plagiarism, I’m going to have to call you a liar. The Great Hero is the latest game to be banned off of Steam and as usual Valve has provided no public comment on why.
The Great Hero had a 15% mostly negative rating at the time of its ban and was only available in Chinese. Most of the negative reviews center around accusations that the game is stealing artwork and assets from other titles including Three Kingdoms, God of War, World of Warcraft, etc.
“In the selection interface, I saw art materials including Three Kingdoms Kill, Three Kingdoms, Fighting God of War, World of Warcraft, LOL, and Goddess Alliance. These were used directly without modification.”
Meanwhile other reviews show just how useless machine translation is from Chinese to English. Unless this was also unintelligible in Chinese.
“Without further ado, I wish you a wealthy family, I have never seen someone who seems to love you so much, I’ll do it carefully, be careful not to shit, lose”
Evidently many of the people who bought the game were brought in by an outside source because a lot of reviews specifically mention buying the game just to give it a negative review. There are also disputes as to whether or not the developer is actually Chinese or is trying to discredit Chinese developers by sticking “China” in front of its company name. Other reviews go as far as to publicize the company’s registered business information.
Also: Spicy chicken game. I don’t know what that means but the term shows up a lot in the reviews.
“Spicy chicken game, climb for the grandfather.
Maliciously contaminated the search terms, and approve the company, you give me a bad refund.”
Another prominent complaint I have seen revolves around spamming search terms leading people to find the game thinking it is something completely different. The developer even boldly responded to a few of the negative reviews. A little over-confident considering they are now barred from the Steam store.
Spicy chicken game. If someone can explain that term to me it would be much appreciated.
