How To Disable The Marvel’s Avengers Quick Time Events

Because I’m pretty sure nobody wants that.

One of the biggest complaints I see about Marvel’s Avengers is how the random quick time events pull the player out of the game and are just utterly obnoxious. Thankfully the folks at Crystal Dynamics have a solution; you can just disable them. Well not entirely, but mostly.

As you play through Avengers you’ll find yourself in all sorts of situations where your character is trapped and the game requires you to mash the square (or equivalent) button to escape. What if I told you that there was a way around this mechanism? Mostly.

If you head into the options menu and switch over to “gameplay” you’ll find an option for “multi-tap interact style.” The default option has you mashing buttons to complete the sequence. Change it to “hold” and you just need to hold the button down. Change it to tap and the interaction will automatically complete with a single button press.

I tested it out on “tap” mode and it works great. Just one tap of the square button and you are free. Presumably this is more geared toward those with accessibility issues, but that’s no reason the general public can’t get in on disabling an annoying “feature.”
