It’s currently bugged and not working properly.
Crystal Dynamics is suggesting that players hold on to their patterns until a bug can be fixed causing the fabrication machine can be fixed.
If you’ve been playing Marvel’s Avengers you have probably farmed one or more fabrication patterns that can be run through the fabrication machine with the promise of random outfits. In a perfect world the fabrication machine should grant random outfits and if that outfit is a duplicate give units to spend with the vendors.
Unfortunately a bug is preventing the machine from dispensing anything, or in some cases dispensing rewards with no notification of what the player received. In a Reddit post dedicated to current bugs and issues affecting the game, Crystal Dynamics posted a suggestion that players do not use the machine until it is fixed in a coming patch.
There is no date set on when this will be patched out.
