Steam: PlayMagic Issues Apology For XIII Launch

Game currently sits at 9% approval rating on Steam.

XIII recently launched a remastered version on Steam and it was received about as positively as a Weekend At Bernie’s reboot starring an actual corpse. Developer PlayMagic has issued a statement apologizing for the poor state of the game at launch, noting the pandemic’s role in curtailing productivity at the company and the difficulty of working from home during that time.

First and foremost, we would like to offer our most sincere apologies for the game’s technical issues. In its present state, XIII does not meet our quality standards and we fully understand players’ frustrations. The pandemic has impacted the game’s production on many levels. Pivoting to home working for the teams has added unexpected delays in the development schedule and the QA process. We hoped we would be able to provide a Day One patch fixing all the issues, but the development of this update is taking more time than expected.

PlayMagic has posted a patch notes list of changes in an upcoming update with upcoming improvements to NPC AI, stability, and various other bugs and glitches. Will it fix the myriad of problems with this remake? Great question. Glad you asked it. We’ll see if we get an answer to that.

XIII currently holds one star out of two ratings on the Xbox One store and zero reviews on Amazon which should be a strong indicator of how few people have actually bought it. On the plus side if XIII is ever fixed you’ll probably be able to pick it up in the clearance bin within the next month.
