Sells $45 game at accidental 90% discount. Oops.
Who says a multi-billion dollar megacorporation can’t occasionally be accidentally generous? Every so often a retailer screws up allocating digital codes to pages on its store, and Walmart is the latest culprit. The listing for the Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Special Episode DLC is giving out copies of the full game bundle instead. For a fraction of the cost.
The Twitter account for Cheap Ass Gamer, a personal favorite of mine, posted this news late last night.
Price Glitch: A lot of People Are Saying That Instead of Getting the Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Special Episode DLC, They Actually The ENTIRE GAME & DLC for $4.39 via Walmart. https://t.co/m947d9KFhr

Now the DLC costs $4.39 while the bundle normally runs $45 at present. I personally threw in my $4 to test the waters and received a full copy of the game plus DLC. Others have reportedly not had such luck. It looks like some orders are being cancelled while others are put on back order. To the best of my knowledge everyone who successfully receives a code has been sent the full game.
There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to why some orders go through and others don’t. There have been some reported issues of people being denied while logged in who checked out as a guest and had no issue. Other users report problems paying by Paypal card.
I can confirm that this was still working as of 10:45 a.m. EST this morning (roughly a half hour before this article goes live).
