Because a lot of people seem to think it is.
Today’s piece comes to us from folks on the internet. Folks like Paul Tassi at the paywalled Forbes site who suspect that Outriders may be launching on Xbox Game Pass sooner rather than later. Microsoft has leaked upcoming Game Pass titles in the past through ominous emails from fake PR people, and the latest email comes from a Melissa McGamepass referencing a mysterious signal appearing in the distance.
There’s probably a hint about a game in here somewhere honestly we can’t even keep up with all the announcements lately pic.twitter.com/Qz6LmX1Cs4

Why is that relevant? It appears to directly reference Square Enix’s advertising for Outriders, whose plot is all about a mysterious signal.
You roam the planet of Enoch in @Outriders as a god-like being called the Altered looking for the source of a mysterious signal.

So the big question is whether or not Outriders is coming to Game Pass, and if so then more importantly when is it coming. Perhaps Square Enix saw the pre-order numbers and decided the best course of action would be to take Microsoft’s offer. The possibility does raise a problem for those who pre-order. Releasing so soon after launch won’t sit well with many. Especially people who drop $60+ not knowing they could play for no additional cost.
The best course of action we think is to wait. If you want Outriders but a Game Pass release would make you regret the purchase, maybe give it a couple of months to see what Microsoft announces.
