Announces that they will be reprimanded.
Electronic Arts is in some hot water this month following allegations that employees were selling cards directly to customers for cash. Some employees were accused to selling high value cards for anywhere from $900 to $2,500 to avoid the game’s gambling mechanics and obtain the player of their dreams cheaper.
EA promised a thorough investigation that some took as lip service, but apparently the company was mostly honest in its promise. An announcement released today confirmed that some employees have been caught doing illicit trades with players, and that those employees will be reprimanded accordingly. The investigation is still incomplete as of this publishing.
Next, let’s be clear about what will happen now. When our investigation is completed, we will take action against any employee found to have been engaging in this activity. Any items granted through this illicit activity will be removed from the FUT ecosystem and EA will permanently ban any player known to have acquired content through these means.
EA did acknowledge that the event has rightfully damaged trust in the company by players. While the employees involved are facing their own punishment, players who purchased from said employees can expect their accounts to be permanently banned with the items purchased removed from the game’s ecosystem.
