As 5.5 ushers in the end of days.
Final Fantasy XIV is setting the stage for the next big expansion today with the launch of patch 5.5 as well as the open beta on PlayStation 5. Patch 5.5 is dubbed Death Unto Dawn and adds new story content leading directly into the fourth expansion Endwalker.
Today also marks the launch of the Final Fantasy XIV open beta on PlayStation 5. Users with a PS4 license can upgrade to the PS5 upgrade edition at no extra cost, while new players can experience the PS5 version via the free trial edition. The full version will be available to purchase for new players after the open beta.
