Hotcakes: Actually I Was Wrong About Elyon

A special Saturday hotcakes.

Here at MMO Fallout I kinda pride myself on almost never having to issue corrections because I do my homework and get my facts straight. In the last eleven years I’ve had to issue maybe one or two corrections for oversights that I made, as opposed to something like Daybreak lying about who their owner was for four years straight.

I screwed up with my Elyon preview, and that’s why you’re getting a special Saturday Hotcakes. In my preview of Elyon I referred to the game as “expectantly predatory as a free to play MMO.” You see the phrase “free to play” has been thrown around a lot recently for Elyon, but it was in reference to the beta weekends. I got confused, and ultimately that’s my fault.

What I should have said was “Elyon has the predatory nature of a free to play MMO.” Because Elyon won’t be free to play. Elyon will have the greedy monetization and arguably pay to win aspects of a free to play MMO behind a paywall. Granted a paywall I don’t expect to stick around for very long, but a paywall nonetheless.

Buy 2 Play with in-game purchases. We are working to adapt the many areas of Elyon for the western audience.

So please accept my apologies for stating that Elyon is “expectantly predatory as a free to play MMO.” It is not free to play. Rest assured that while MMO Fallout does not believe in corporal punishment, that those responsible for this mistake (me) will be force fed a Little Caesars pizza as punishment.

Have a fantastic weekend.
