Astonia Resurgence Hits Steam

Free to play with a wonderful community.

Astonia is an old game. We’re talking pre-Ultima Online MMO. Back when they mostly called these games MUDs (Multi-User Dungeon). Astonia went offline before some of our readers were born, as the game went down in the year 2000. Thanks to the power of the internet, however, developer Daniel Brockhaus obtained permission to release the game code into the open source stratosphere.

Astonia Resurgence is one of those community servers, and the one that happened to launch on Steam today. The game is free and supported by donations. Those who download should be ready to dive into a title that will absolutely take some getting used to. This is your grandpa’s MMO. You have to actually chat to NPCs in order to interact with them.

Incidentally this isn’t the only Astonia version on Steam. Resurgence aims to replicate the vanilla experience as closely as possible.
