GTA Online Sunsets Legacy Consoles

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 go offline.

Grand Theft Auto V has been around for so long that it’s easy to forget it originally launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Yea, it’s that old. What you may not know about GTA Online is that the game hasn’t exactly been getting updates on the original launch consoles. Rockstar killed updating the older systems in 2015 and none of the new content has filtered through to the older systems. Both games were also overrun by hackers a long time ago.

So it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that with the enhanced versions coming to the Xbox Series and PS5 that Rockstar is putting the final kibosh on the 360 and PS3 servers. Support for both versions will end on December 16, 2021.

As we continue to move forward with updates and support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto Online — as well as prepare for this Fall’s launches of the new expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially be shutting down on December 16, 2021.

The only thing this won’t affect is GTA V story mode which will still be playable. In addition to GTA Online, multiplayer for Max Payne 3 will shut down on September 16 on PS3/360.
