A perfect incentive to stop playing.
Aion Classic is NCSoft’s relaunch of Aion mostly back in its early form, and it may come as a shock to some MMO Fallout readers that NCSoft is basically barely tolerating the presence of free players. If you’re not paying a subscription in Aion Classic you’re going to have a bad time.
Free players get one hour daily of Siel’s Aura, which is basically subscriber mode. After that hour is up, however, you get knocked down to 50% experience, your drops are superior quality at most, and you can no longer obtain Kinah (currency) by drops, nor can you obtain abyss points, gather anything, use the private store, receive AP from quests, or exchange relics.
In short, there’s no reason to play.
The reason for this seems related to NCSoft wanting to hamper gold farmers, which the company is doing a rather poor job of. NCSoft doesn’t appear to be moderating chat, nor are they putting much of a knock against gold farmers as prices have already gone below what NCSoft is selling its own gold for.
But hey, there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
