It’s not the pro version people have been speculating about.
Nintendo this week announced that a new Switch is coming, and the announcement might not be what much of the internet expected. Despite months of agonizing speculation surrounding the existence of a Switch Pro model, Nintendo revealed the new version won’t be much of an upgrade at all.
The new Switch features an OLED screen, less bezel, a new stand, new dock, more internal memory, better speakers, and a few other doodads. What it won’t do is play your games at a better framerate or resolution, meaning current Switch owners don’t have much of a reason to upgrade.
The new Switch hits store shelves on October 8. When you’ll actually find one in stock is another story.
