Valve Announces Steam Deck, Portable PC

Reservations start tomorrow, release in December.

Valve’s long-rumored portable PC is finally a reality. As of right now the landing page for the Steam Deck, a portable PC running Valve’s own operating system, is live. The Steam Deck features a seven inch screen, dual trackpads, as well as the normal features you’d expect in a gaming controller.

The system itself features an AMD APU, 16gb of ram, and choices in storage. The seven inch screen resolution pops out at 1280 x 800px with a touch screen and 60hz refresh rate, and the system supports bluetooth. The battery is a 40Whr offering 2-8 hours of battery life on a full charge. Preprogrammed into the system is SteamOS 3.0.

Valve is opting for reservations for early purchasers, meaning you’ll need to have a Steam account with a purchase dating before June 2021 for the first 48 hours of reservations. This is apparently to avoid scalpers as much as possible. Cost starts at $400 USD.
