Riot Games Is Killing /All Chat

At least temporarily.

League of Legends is a game Riot is constantly looking at and wondering how they can make the community suck less. Through various initiatives of promoting good behavior, stomping down bad behavior, and just removing certain avenues that facilitate toxicity, League is constantly shifting its approach to dealing with the fact that people are bastard coated bastards with bastard filling.

Take the latest announcement to come out of League; Riot Games will remove /all chat in an upcoming patch. While teams can still use text to chat with each other, they won’t be able to talk to the other team. According to the developers, this update is temporary and the function may return based on how players respond to it. The plan, according to Riot, is to test the feature over several patches and then poll players on their feelings.

This will determine how the company goes forward. Response to the news has been pretty negative so far, but we’ll have to see how people act once it’s actually in place. Who knows, people might warm up to it once everyone’s had a nice cup of shut up. The update comes with next week’s patch.
