Space Punks Is Digging Its Own Grave

Flying Wild Hog ruining its own title.

It’s been a hot minute since I last talked about Space Punks and in that time the folks at Flying Wild Hog studio have gone from regularly updating the game and community to going radio silent and letting the game ruin its own ability to retain players. The Space Punks Twitter account hasn’t posted since February 14, the developers haven’t been active on the Discord in months, and overall it just feels like FWH has stopped caring about the game.

Particularly I’m referring to a pretty nasty bug in Space Punks that can and has ruined the game’s retention of new players. Earlier this year a bug cropped up with the quest Crafting with Fink where the game will not progress the quest no matter what. Even worse, the relay locks until you finish the quest meaning players stuck here can’t even run missions in the game while they wait for the quest to be fixed.

And this quest has been broken for four months since update 9 dropped on February 14 with no comment or acknowledgement from Flying Wild Hog on if or when it will be fixed. All the while the game continues to bleed players and the servers feel more empty every month as literally the only people who can fix the situation are completely AWOL and appear to have abandoned the community.

At this juncture I’ll be shocked if Space Punks makes it out of early access let alone to the point of releasing the planned console versions and having a successful live service run.
