New World Promises Better Performance

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I’ll load faster tomorrow, it’s only a day away. New World is promising performance improvements because if you haven’t noticed the game runs at a level some would consider less than delicious. Thankfully that’s where patch 2.0.2 promises to come in.

As posted on the official website and set to launch at 4a.m. PT when most gamers will be getting ready for bed, New World’s new patch is changing the way shaders are loaded meaning (hopefully) better performance.

We have implemented a performance change to the way shaders are loaded on the game client. This change is expected to enhance the overall gameplay experience by reducing instances of frame-hitching and stuttering. However, it’s important to note that there will be a noticeable impact on game boot-up time as a trade-off.

Unfortunately the lord giveth and the lord taketh away, and as of this patch it will also be much harder to obtain legendary fish. Get your fishing in now before they no longer fear you as much.

Fixed an issue that made Legendary Fish far easier to catch than intended.

Otherwise there’s some fixes coming tomorrow. Hopefully less “lag detected” disconnects. Hopefully it doesn’t cause the game to set people’s computers on fire. Again.
