Gotcha!
NCSoft knows exactly what they’re doing with Throne & Liberty, which is why after the game has been delayed long enough to be well into primary school with just the delayed years, the game is still making massive changes to its base functions like combat and monetization. In this case our friends over at MassivelyOP pushed an article by a Korean news source claiming NCSoft is overhauling the monetization in Throne & Liberty.
It seems reasonable enough, given western audiences have really turned against loot boxes in the past few years and many AAA developers are just outright dropping them. Also whales in the gaming industry may not be as numerous and lucrative as they once were and tend to be stretched out over existing properties. As a result, T&L’s primary income source will be season passes and subscriptions.
