Burning Lands Vietnam Kickstarter Plummets

Devs lose nearly $60k in a couple of days.

Burning Lands Vietnam is, well, burning and by the time you read this article it may have already come to a crashing stop. The game bills itself as a “tactical multiplayer first-person shooter set in the Vietnam war era” and if you’re not familiar with the recent controversy you may not know why the Kickstarter has lost a couple thousand in backing in the time I’m writing this article.

In development by Zero Hour Interactive, Burning Lands kicked off its Kickstarter at the end of October and pretty quickly blew through its funding goal of $49 thousand dollarydoos. That is until the internal crap hit the fan and the devs collectively quit in protest citing bad working conditions.

Since the news hit of the strike and the fact that the game doesn’t have an active development team, Kickstarter backers have been pulling out in droves. Kicktraq records show that $56,000 has been pulled from the project over the last couple of days and you can hit up the backer page and literally watch the numbers roll down in real time.

Funding peaked at AU$151,000 meaning the campaign has already dumped a third of its gains in just two days. With two weeks left in the campaign and people still pulling out their money, it seems likely the campaign will fail even if the company refuses to cancel it early.
