It’s at least more tenable.
I’ve been playing more Wayfinder over the last week than I have total since it launched into early access back in August and I have to say…I’m still kinda disappointed. That being said, they did make the game a lot easier to stomach thanks to the release of Patch 0.1.10.0.
If you don’t know, that patch increased experience gains across the board and I don’t just mean by 50%. I’m talking 250-350% depending on the activity and boy howdy does it make the game a lot easier to stomach. The grind and repetitive nature of the game didn’t bother me as much as how slow it was, especially from the start.

Wayfinder is all about that gear grind. Run dungeons, complete quests, gather resources, and upgrade your gear to run better dungeons and complete better quests for more resources. I’m fine with that, it’s a staple of MMOs. The game still runs like hot trash, but it’s getting better all the time.
A grand majority of people I see running around, and the game does get pretty busy at nights, are on PlayStation. In fact I can’t really remember the last player I encountered that didn’t have a big P next to their usernames. Huh.

I assume Season 1 of the battle pass ends this month, and thank God the folks at Airship Syndicate made it so paid battle passes never expire. While you’re SOL and JWF if you’ve got the free pass, paid passes can continue earning items even after the season is over. The question when season 2 launches is will they work simultaneously or will season 1 go on the backburner.
There’s still a ton of stuff to grind toward in the game, and season 2 is supposed to bring in more content like job boards. There is the affinity system, characters to level individually, weapon skills to level individually, affinity, weapon tempering, and all kinds of crap to do in the game right now.

If only they’d work on optimization a bit more. Now I won’t claim that Wayfinder is GOTY material, but as someone who popped in from the start it is definitely in a better place now than a few months ago. And hopefully it’ll only get better from here.
