Players should expect to have their bans reversed.
Head over to the Counter-Strike 2 forums and you’re going to see hundreds upon hundreds of threads of people losing their minds. It appears the game swept in with a mass ban wave, and while the total number isn’t exactly known, websites monitoring VAC bans reported a big uptick in numbers.
The good news is that Valve has acknowledged that yes, they screwed up. The bans are not legitimate and the company is working on reversing them. Some players are already reporting having their bans reversed and others who were falsely banned should have access to their accounts in short order.
The Counter-Strike 2 store app has been hit with over 880 negative reviews today, many of them related to the false ban wave. This isn’t the first time Counter-Strike 2 has triggered a ban wave that was later reversed. Back in October an AMD driver update caused players to get flagged by the anti-cheat tool due to anti-lag features in the software.
