Fortnite Festival Gets Expensive Battle Pass

For The Weekend.

Fortnite is launching a ton of official new modes this week; Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racers, Fortnite Festival. Actually I guess that’s it. And now that Fortnite is embracing its metaverse concept, whatever that means, I guess it stands to reason that there will be multiple battle passes running side-by-side.

But what sets this battle pass apart from those that came before is the price. Keen eyed users, or simply those who look at the price or read this article, will notice that the Fortnite Festival battle pass featuring The Weekend is 1,950 V-Bucks.

1,950 V-Bucks costs a little less than $18, which I guess makes sense when you consider a good amount of that is probably going to licensing. The free pass includes loading screens, some Epic-owned jam tracks, and more. The premium track contains jam track songs by Fall Out Boy, PSY, Bell Biv DeVoe, and The Weekend.

Fortnite is no stranger to licensed deals as part of its $10 battle pass, however Festival involves licensing full songs for musical performances is a whole different can of worms and generally a lot more costly to negotiate.

The first season Fortnite Festival runs through February 22.
