Mad World Launches To 39% Steam Rating

Things ain’t great.

Mad World is out on Steam, and people aren’t very happy. Having launched just a couple of days ago, the isometric MMO currently has 224 reviews and is sitting at a 39% mostly negative rating.

So what’s the problem? One big issue I’m seeing in reviews is that people are upset that the game is hard. Really hard. As in a number of reviewers can’t get through the tutorial because NPCs are killing them in about three hits during the part where the game is supposed to be teaching you how to cast spells.

Otherwise players are complaining about the typical Korean free to play garbage; multiple currencies, annoying pop-ups, and the game being obviously balanced around forcing the player to buy gear from the shop using real money. Throw in poor optimization and server problems and you’ve got a recipe for low reviews.

We’ll have to see how the game performs in the coming months. With an all time peak of 476 players, they may have to go a long way to convince people to give it another shot.
