Farlight 84 Players Are Angry About Jetpacks

Jetpacks.

Farlight 84 has a lot of accolades, and this week the folks at Farlight Games are finding themselves with a really angry gamer base. The story goes like this.

Way back in the yonder years of January 24, 2024, Farlight Games released update 2.0 for Farlight 84, a battle royale. Being a 2.0 update, it was pretty big with all kinds of new features like ziplines. Because who doesn’t love ziplines? Fortnite has ziplines. You know what Fortnite doesn’t have? Jetpacks.

But Farlight 84 has jetpacks, and that’s the root of today’s article. Because in the 2.0 update, Farlight Games took away some people’s ability to use jetpacks. The update notes that this is in the name of the game’s design and the fact that universal basic jetpacks were causing design issues.

The jetpack currently provides vertical and horizontal boosts and aids in Wall Runs. Following a special announcement video at the end of last year, some players expressed their desire for us not to remove the jetpack. However, due to its excessively high maneuverability, compromises were made in the shooting experience and the design of hero skills, which weren’t in harmony with the essence of a hero shooting game. Compromises and adjustments are sometimes necessary within the overall framework of game design.

Over 1,000 players have voiced their frustration with the update since January 24, and the brunt of those complaints are coming from jetpack-less players. They want their jetpack packs back, Jack.

Enough players are angry that it’s brought the reviews down to a mixed 54% while the overall score remains at a very positive 84%. So is Farlight 84 dead? With a daily peak of over 10,000 players on Steam, probably not for now. Only time will tell on how people adopt the new changes.
