Palia is officially out on Steam and user reviews are…mixed.
A cozy village life game that might appeal to fans of Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, Palia sees players building their plot of land while also forming friendships and relationships with the various citizens of Palia. As the game continues development, more resources and characters to schmooze are being added in.
The problem many players have with the game seems pretty self-explanatory. Foremost the game is billed as an MMO but isn’t very massive. Only up to 25 players can share an instance together and there are only two big areas to explore that comprise the game world. As far as most activities go, this is a single player game with other players as backdrop material.
Another major criticism I’ve seen is how toxic the community can be, both in new players asking questions in-game (a lot of mechanics aren’t properly explained) or that criticism of the game on its Discord and Reddit lead to very easy bans.
Palia launched on Steam to a peak of just under 7,800 users and is currently sitting at that amount on a Tuesday morning.
Pointless game, may as well be a single player title.
