Genfanad Finally Has A Vision; It’s Closing

Shutting down soon.

Genfanad is a perfect example of a title that meandered in development and ultimately couldn’t find its place. Originally devised as a RuneScape Classic clone of sorts, Genfanad has changed its direction over its tumultuous development to become a trading card game of all things.

Well it turns out that idea didn’t work either, and now the Genfanad devs finally have a concrete vision for the MMO. They’re shutting it down. Rose Tinted Games announced that the Genfanad servers will close down on April 30.

Whilst we’ve tried to morph Genfanad into a title that we’d be happier with, the feedback we’ve gotten on this change has been clear that we would not be able to launch a game to the standards that we would like. We will be closing down our Patreon & Steam page as of this message. We will also be closing down the Genfanad Beta servers on April 30th, giving Patrons a few more days to play.

Steam users who spent money on Genfanad should reach out to Steam customer support to see if they’ll force a refund on any of your purchases. For everyone else, well there’s always your card issuer to contact.

  1. Heh. So i hear this was kickstarter backed, and when they decided to roll with card combat some backers were not amused. Well, i hope they’re happier now that they’re gettin’ absolutely nothing lmao.
