Diablo IV Really Loves Its Season 4 Loot Change

They won’t stop talking about it.

Diablo IV is changing up its itemization in Season 4, launching May 14, and you probably already know that even if you don’t play the game. Why? Because they won’t stop talking about it to everyone and everywhere. It’s like Diablo IV has joined a vegan crossfit group that also codes entirely on Linux.

Season 4: Loot Reborn takes on a new theme, overhauling many core game systems to refresh how items are earned, how they function, and how they improve as you level through World Tiers during the season.

Unlike previous Seasonal themes that affect only the Seasonal Realm, with Season 4: Loot Reborn, these Itemization changes persist beyond the Seasonal Realm and affect the Eternal Realm as well. Read on to learn how Itemization will change the way you loot and reap your way across all of Diablo IV.

One of the big updates with Season 4 will make itemization less frustrating and convoluted apparently. Affixes on items are being reduced in number and made more effective, so no more “10% extra damage to enemies whose name starts with a B and whose birthday falls between the second and sixth phase of the lunar moon cycle.” It’ll be easier to tell if a dropped item is worth keeping, and tempering and masterworking are getting overhauled to also suck less.

The goal is to give items more impact and that also means reducing the sheer number that drop so players spend less time sorting through them. Less drops, but better quality drops. Sounds good to me. Materials have been boosted in drop rate, decreased in cost at the blacksmith, and gold cost to re-roll now has a ceiling.

There’s all sorts of stuff coming. The codex of power is now a library instead of in your inventory, tempering manuals will shape your items, and masterworking your gear will make it more powerful as well.

Seriously there’s a ton of stuff coming in this update. A state the game arguably should have launched in from the beginning.

  1. Who even cares about Diablo anymore?

All the cool kids play POE, and once POE2 is out i’m sure no one will even remember what Diablo is lol.

      1. We’ll see for how many minutes, if POE2 will be just as big of a success as POE1 was… perhaps for about 5. xD
