Britaria Says Thanks For the Money, Ceases Development

It’s not a scam.

Britaria was the NFT reboot of Legends of Aria, previously being developed under the aptly named developer title “Reaper Games” who rebranded to Moonglow Games. And now it’s dead. Again.

Now it’s important to remember that Britaria was not a scam, just because the developers are a shady group who sold $70 buffed pre-order characters, ripped people off with failed crypto coins, just all around acted shady, and treated criticism from the press like a group of extra-fragile snowflakes. Yep, if anyone was in a position to take a failed MMO like Legends of Aria and reboot it into a viable commercial product, it was a couple of crypto bros. And it wasn’t a rug pull, get that out of your head.

Now that Legends of Aria Classic is trying to leapfrog in a new group of suckers to siphon gas money off of, the folks at Moonglow have finally admitted they don’t actually know what they’re doing and can’t produce a video game to the amazement of Britaria’s two remaining community members.

So they’re abandoning development on Britaria. Per the Discord:

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that our team can no longer continue operating this project and will soon be preparing to shut it down. While we have faced numerous challenges, both financially and technically, working with legacy code, your support has made us press on and get this far. Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, continuing operations has become untenable due to financial constraints.

On the other hand they are looking for interested parties who might see some remaining blood to siphon out of this rock. If you want to make a bid for Britaria and its estimated market value of less than the cost of the stamp required to mail out a check for it, you have until August 12 to apply.

If you’re deciding between buying the Britaria license and purchasing a delicious footlong sub from Quiznos, I’d suggest going for the sub. It’ll depreciate in value far slower.
