That’s why you suck.
Fornite Chapter 6 is officially out, bringing with it a new map, new guns, new movement abilities, and more. With OG Mode coming out on December 6, you might be tempted to jump into the main mode for now and check out how things have changed.
And then get your ass completely handed to you. Or is that just my experience?
Fortnite’s guns may seem a little different now even though at their core you’re still handling the same old rifles, shotguns, and submachine guns. And it’s not just you. Epic have once again changed how guns operate in Fortnite.
Epic unveiled prior to the Season 6 launch that weapons this season are indeed hitscan.
Hitscan should be a welcome addition to Fortnite, because it’s how the game operated for much of its life. In Chapter 5 Epic updated pretty much all of the guns to use a delayed shot system, meaning bullets had speed and velocity and dropped off over distance. You actually had to aim where your opponent would be rather than where they were.
With this update, traditional guns are now hitscan again, meaning you point your gun at the other guy and shoot, and if you’re aiming at them you will hit.
So if you drop in on Chapter 6 and realize you have to recalibrate that muscle memory, just remember you’re not crazy. Weapons actually do work different now.
I hate it. I preferred chapter 5S gunplay.
I completely missed the hitscan part of the update and spent the first couple matches going crazy at why I wasn’t hitting stuff.
